Began disassembling a 10-bolt rear end.
Removed aluminum drum brakes, axles, and right brake backing plate.
Removed left brake backing plate. Took housing end to Denny so he could make a jig puck. Cut housing ends off and narrowed rear 2 7/8 in. on both sides.
Wire brushed the rear. Began cleaning rear.
Cut and ground off unattractive protuberances such as the clamping location for machining and factory welds.
Welded the steel axle tubes to the center section.
Fabricated and welded on the rear end saddles.
Welded the housing ends on the rear.
Removed a cover from another rear.
Disassembled the drum brakes.
